While Single Transferrable Voting is better for multi-member, legislative bodies using multi-member elections, IRV is a good transitional step to bring us closer to ranked choice voting election systems that are more representative of a larger block of voters and more inclusive of diverse political views. We would like to see elected officials implement IRV in local, state and national elections where a single representative is elected.
We, the undersigned, support the use of Instant Runoff Voting for single-seat elections. Where multi-member, legislative bodies are used, we support the use of Single-Transferrable Voting (STV).
