On October 2, 2018 the University of Regina Athletics administration department discovered an ineligible player on the University of Regina Rams football team. On October 3 the Athletics department disclosed the ineligible player to USports. On October 4 the appropriate paperwork was submitted to USports and on October 5 the ruling was announced in a press conference. The players, the coaches and the Board of Directors of the Rams Football club were not notified of the error in eligibility and the sanctions being placed on the team until 2 hours before the press release. The ineligibility of this player has resulted in serious sanctions on the Rams football club for the 2018 season. The 3 wins for this season are now forfeited and their record is now 0 wins and 5 losses. With an 8 game regular season this is a devastating ruling for the team. As stated by the University Athletics Administration the mistake was caused by an oversight and human error during the University’s student-athlete intake and eligibility process. The error was NOT within the Rams football program. The University of Regina did not provide appropriate or any support to the Rams football program with this matter. The sanctions that have been placed on the Rams is extreme and not justified as an appropriate punishment for a clerical error by the university athletic administration department. The Rams Football program includes well over a hundred players, coaches and support staff who work tirelessly all year to prepare and compete in a very competitive season.
Please sign this petition in support of the Rams Football Team and demand the University Of Regina Adminstration, USPORTS, and CanadaWest, take action to try to rectify the penalty placed on the Rams Football Team.
The petition will end on Friday, October 12 at 12 noon!

We, the undersigned, call on Vianne Timmons, President of the University of Regina, Harold Riemer, Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies, and Lisa Robertson, Director of Sport, Community Engagement, and Athlete Development to provide support and take action on behalf of the University of Regina Rams football team. This support and action would include discussions and negotiations with the CanWest Conference and USports for the recent and extreme sanctions placed on the Rams Football Team.
