Pamela Carter has been with Santa Susana High School since 2000. Many of us know her as a vice principal but since December of 2004 she has served as principal. Ms. Carter has always been willing to work with others.

Her “open door” policy has been in place for years and is a way to communicate with the students on an even level and not as an authoritarian. Long hours, fighting to keep school more “interesting” for students, and the proven increase in the state academic performance index shows how dedicated Pamela Carter is to Santa Susana High School and the people she works with.

As Ms. Carter said to the Acorn back in December of 2004, “This school works as a team with shared leadership. The students and staff choose to be here which make it different form other places were people have to attend. They are wonderful people to be around.”

We have learned that Ms. Carter has been possibly reassigned from her principal position. Instead of taking away a key figure in making things happen at Santa Susana High School, why not create a meeting where teachers, students, parents, and Ms. Carter can voice their concerns about the academic side and what they can do as a whole to make it better.

We, the undersigned, call on the Simi Valley Unified School board to reconsider removing Pamela Carter as principal at Santa Susana High School.

She is a great asset to the schools growth and to the students attending Santa Susana High School. It would harm out school if she were removed.
