Mothers that nurse are being disapprovingly criticized and censored. It is common knowledge that breast milk is best for all infants under the age of one.

However, because of social norms claiming that nursing in public is indecent most mothers shy away from breast feeding. We need to show more support towards these Mothers who are taking the time to do what is right for their children.

How do we show support to the breast feeding mothers? There are organizations in place now for breast feeding mothers- but the awareness of their help is a limited knowledge. Doctors, nurses and hospitals should be promoting breast feeding. Businesses, restaurants, companies should be provoked to be breast feeding friendly by providing all mothers with support to nurse while present in their establishment. Our children should be taught at an early age that breast feeding is best.

When the children are old enough to have the puberty talk in school-they should also be informed about the benefits of breast feeding. Teenage mothers should be encouraged to not only nurse their child, but also should be encouraged to pump during school hours. I strongly feel that every business, restaurant and state/Government building should have a child-friendly room or stall that provides a mother privacy to breast feed or change a child’s diaper.

We wouldn't want to eat while sitting on a toilet in a restaurant, so why does an infant have, too? A nursing mother should be comfortable to nurse her child whenever and where ever. If we can help these Mom’s to be more comfortable nursing in public then breast feeding rates will rise.

We, the undersigned, request to make a law that requires establishments to provide a separate Child Friendly Room for nursing, or present a sign that states breast feeding is welcomed in their establishment.
