We wish to address you on behalf of all journalists and human rights activists who are the object of our deepest concern.
Protecting and upholding the right of freedom of the press are fundamental concepts to enable citizens and a government to be able to hear and understand each other.
Grisell Pérez Rivera has disappeard on 26 March 2021. Grisell Pérez Rivera is an activist, advocate and lawyer who provided counselling and accompaniment to rape victims and mothers of feminicide victims in the State of Mexico. She is also the founder and director of the civil society organization "La Cabaña de la sabiduría".
A new case of enforced disappearance. Since October 27, 2021, no one has heard of Irma Galindo Barrios, an activist working against deforestation in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
Every activist has an important role within a society that must find a way for them to uphold human rights.
Journalists and human rights activists should not face retaliation, threats and torture. Freedom and truth cannot lead to the death of innocent people.
We demand Support and Protection for journalists and human rights activists who are threatened every day for their valuable work.
We demand Justice. Justice for the victims who courageously chose to tell the truth of the facts.
