For too long Congress has tried to limit the freedoms granted to American citizens by the Second Amendment. For too long the scum of our society has gotten their hands on firearms and used them against law-abiding citizens. It is time we put a stop to this.
I am proposing a petition that would call on Congress to pass legislation that would mandate harsher punishments on criminals that commit violent crime with firearms. These harsher punishments can help deter criminals from committing crimes. The petition will also be calling on Congress to establish a National Database that should track all citizens with guns as well as the mentally unstable, gang members, and convicted criminals. Congress should make laws requiring this database be used during any and all transactions of firearms.
In short, this petition purpose is to get Congress to focus on the criminals that use firearms harmfully, not the firearms themselves, because those are the people that can be stopped.
We, the undersigned, call on the Congress of the United States of America to take steps to reduce firearm related violence and to protect the Second Amendment rights of everyone. We petition Congress to take several steps:
Step 1 Enact laws requiring harsher punishments for violent crimes committed with the use of a firearm.
Step 2 Enact a National Database solely for the purpose of tracking guns and people that own them/should not own them. This database should include information such as: Criminal Record, Mental Stability, Gang Relations, etc.
Step 3 Pass laws stating that it is unlawful for a criminal convicted of using a firearm in a violent crime, a person that is mentally unstable, or a person that is either know or suspected to be involved in gang activities to own a firearm.
Step 4 Require the database to be used for any sale of a firearm or transaction of a firearm from one owner to the other under punishment of law.
