Parking violations that are not in the interest to serve and protect the people of Chicago, are clearly another way to fine people and serve no other purpose.
Many working people suffering due to the bad economy, have to chose whether to pay their bills or the unnecessary violations which neither serve nor protect the citizens of Chicago.
We, the undersigned, request that unfair violations that serve no purpose other than to impose fees on the citizens of Chicago be removed and/or amended.
1. Parking violation code #09-40-080 Parked/Standing Unattended Engine Running fee: $75.00
Many people who live in the cold windy city of Chicago have to warm their vehicle before entering into it. Some people have small children, are sick, old, or try to save time. Since in cold weather we must all warm our vehicles it should not matter if it is attended. A substantial number of people have remote starters.
2. Photo Enforced Red Light violations. Although people should not violate red lights, no person purposely wants to violate it. It should have a countdown clearly visible to people. Clearly the yellow to red light changes more rapidly in a photo enforced intersection than other intersections. It also slows down traffic substantially. There are more photo enforced in low-income communities.
The above violations should be removed and/or amended, and not made to catch people into paying fines that they cannot afford.
