Uber and taxify operators are being impounded every day and being asked a hefty fine of about R10 000 to retreave their vehicles. These platforms have done nothing but improve the lives and offer quality transport service to the community they serve. Needless to say that they have brought with them much needed employment to the country’s population. Every day criminals target them for easy cash and some of them end up dead. Then to add insult to injury the traffic department which is actually supposed to protect and be thankful to these platforms for bringing down drunken driving etc have now embarked on a relentless impounding operation. An operation that is targeted on these platform operators. We call upon operators and citizens who have evolved enough to see the relevence of these platforms to the community to please sign our petition and get these traffic police off the backs of our heroes.
We the undersigned call on the south african traffic department to stop impounding uber and taxify operators. We call on the traffic department to stop targeting and victimising these operators and treat them with respect. We call on the traffic department to protect uber and taxify operators the same way they would protect any other operator or citizen.
