The City of Chicago for several years has made national news in regards to its violence. Declared the murder capital in the USA. Despite the cities overall beautiful landscape, violence outshines its beauty. In the African American community, residents have become immune to the violence.
With economic issues that affects the community: Lack of jobs, school closing, store deserts and minimum Mental Health programs plays a major factor in the increase in violence. We as residents of this city have had enough! We are asking that our Public officials work with our community leaders and residents to find a solution.
We, the Residents of Chicago, declare Peace in the Streets. We are sick and tired of hearing about shootings and murders everyday. How can 300 people get shot in one weekend? Too many children are dying a senseless death.
We ask that the City Officials: Law enforcement, Mayor and Aldermans, work with the Residents to make our streets safe and enjoy our beautiful city.
