With our soldiers engaged in two overseas wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, we must stop and ask: do we really have the resources to catapult ourselves into a third war? Unfortunately, the third war on the radar is the new updated “Culture War.”
On behalf of many Americans, we implore the presidential campaigners and the political parties to remain focused on the serious issues we need to address to get our country back on the right track!
The New Culture War
We Americans demand that the political parties end their roll-out on an updated “domestic culture war” that will weaken our already fragile social fabric, destroy the last vestiges of remaining unity and render us helpless to solve the very real and pressing problems we face as a nation.
Please keep your campaigns focused on the serious challenges in myriad areas of national significance such as the economy, the crumbling infrastructure, our stagnant wages, the loss of jobs, immigration, education, energy, social security and other entitlements.
1. We do not want to engage in a clenched fist, street brawl right now.
2. We do not want to allow you, the politicians, to divide us into micro-units that consist of small town versus big cities; people of color versus whites; red versus blue; men versus women; and liberal versus conservatives. In other political lingo, we do not want to be wedged.
3. We believe the result of engaging in another culture war would be disastrous for our nation at this stage, at this time in our country’s evolution.
We’ll deliver our petition to the two campaigns and create a press release to let the public know how many of us want this presidential campaign to remain focused on the serious, critical, vital issues!
