Thames Water intend to build a large sewer across London. They propose that the major access point at the western end should be at Barn Elms, Barnes, London SW13. This will cause enormous disturbance to the residents for the following reasons:

1) There will be trucks going through the narrow streets of Barnes 24 hours a day for 2 years and frequently thereafter. Apart from the traffic congestion, they will cause vibration and noise.

2) The playing fields of Barn Elms are just about to be refurbished for the whole community. These will be partly destroyed and have restricted use.

3) The Thames river bank will be used by barges which will cause damage to the river bank for walkers and wildlife and disruption to river users such as rowers.

4) The Barn Elms site is very close to the Wetlands centre and other important areas of natural beauty. The noise and pollution will harm the wildlife and environment.

We, the undersigned, call on Thames Water to find a more suitable site than Barn Elms for the access to the Thames Sewer, that will cause less disruption to residents, wildlife and the environment.
