Petition to the Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada

The federal government announced that there will be a lay off of 190 language instructors and the privatization of all future language instruction in the federal public sector.

We, the undersigned residents of Canada, wish to denounce this latest round of layoffs and the wholesale privatization of government language training. These cuts to the Canada School of Public Service will make bilingualism even more difficult for government workers to achieve. It will drive up the cost of language training and hamper the consistency and quality of instruction.

We call upon you, as Prime Minister of Canada, to commit your government to reverse plans to cut jobs and public services.
