Glendale city

United States of America

We need to stop the sign.

The city of Glendale is planning to install a large sign at foothill and Pennsylvania and at Foothill and Lowell saying "Welcome to Glendale" as part of their north Glendale community plan to help unify our small area with the larger Glendale city. La Crescenta is two areas consisting of the LA county unincorporated side and the annexed part of the Glendale side.

There are several neighborhoods in this area stretching from Montrose to Briggs terrace, parts of La Canada to Crescenta Highlands that are all part of the Crescenta Valley. That community is what makes our area so wonderful and gives us the small town feel we all love.

Signs like this are dividing our community our Valley into something we are not, the city. Please consider signing the petition to make Glendale reconsider the wording on this sign to be more consistent with how neighborhoods welcome people with the name of the area and not of the city they are part of.

Could you imagine if every part of Los Angeles was just labeled Los Angeles and not Silverlake, Sunland, Tujunga, Granada Hills, Hollywood and so on and so on. I can't, neither should Glendale.

We, the undersigned, call on the city of Glendale to stop or change the wording of the proposed "welcome to Glendale" sign at the intersection of Foothill and Pennsylvania and at the intersection of Foothill and Lowell.

Our neighborhood does not feel that a large welcome sign on either end of a 1.2 mile stretch of Foothill Blvd. announcing that you are now in "Glendale" is appropriate or consistent with the way other cities welcome people into their neighborhoods.

We are a small, community based neighborhood named "Crescenta Highlands" and part of the "Crescenta Valley" approximately 10 miles away from downtown Glendale and geographically in a separate valley. Although this area is part of the city of Glendale we find it confusing and divisive to designate it anything other then "Crescenta Highlands".
