Over the course of the last 10 years spring rains and floods have damaged homes in Sunset Cove and Waterfront subdivisions. With the increased building and development of the land to the south and east of these subdivisions, more intense flooding to homes, property and community property has occurred and is expected to continue. This has resulted in damage costing the property owners thousands of dollars to repair and restore the properties back to a livable state.

The homes described above are located along a drainage creek which runs northwest between a former golf course, a newly developing residential subdivision and an oil well site.

The creek passes through a culvert that goes under Lake Country Drive which is between Golf Club Drive and Waterfront Drive. The creek north of Lake Country Drive is on private property owned by the Sunset Cove Subdivision HOA. The increased flooding has largely been caused by the development of a new subdivision southeast of the aforementioned drainage creek and the construction of an oil well platform. These projects have resulted in substantially greater levels of runoff to great to be handled by the drainage creek.

We, the undersigned, request the Tarrant County Commissioners Court to correct the existing drainage issues to eliminate the flooding of homes in the Sunset Cove and Waterfront subdivisions at Eagle Mountain Lake.

We suggest an engineering study be conducted to determine if a storm water retention pond or some other storm water management system be developed to prevent the flooding from continuing.
