Target:
Health Minister Deb Matthews
Region:
Canada

The Niagara Health System has been experiencing major challenges and a provincially appointed supervisor, Kevin Smith is proposing to close four facilities in Niagara South, stating that this will improve health-care delivery in the region.

Smith's is proposing to close Port Colborne, fort Erie, Niagara Falls and Welland and build a new hospital designed to complement the new St. Catharines Hospital currently under construction.

We the undersigned, are of the opinion that closing these four hospitals and building a new one does not make economic sense and prefer to upgrade existing facilities.

The existing closure of the Fort Erie and Port Colborne emergency rooms has done nothing to improve access to health care in these regions and completely closing Welland, Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Niagara Falls will further erode the broken system.

The Stop the closure of Welland, Port Colborne, Fort Erie and Niagara Falls Hospitals petition to Health Minister Deb Matthews was written by Joanne Lynes and is in the category Health at GoPetition.
