Stop the APVMA from demanding registration of natural products

To the elected Members of the Houses of Representatives assembled in the Australian Federal and State Parliaments.

The undersigned petitioners request:

a) the Federal and State Parliaments consider the health and well being of animals in their review of the role of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority ("APVMA") and the Agvet Code regulatory regime; and

b) the Federal and State Parliaments consider the scope and extent of the markets for the manufacture, retail and distribution of herbal, natural and holistic products as being distinct from the "Veterinary chemical product" market intended to be covered by the Agvet Code;

c) amending the Agvet Code and regulations to clearly and explicitly exclude products from being considered as 'veterinary chemical products" when their active constituents are naturally occurring; and

d) the right to care for our animals with natural supplements, natural grooming products and herbal preparations, without undue hindrance, control, restriction or regulation by the APVMA.
