The City of Casey is planning for a 2% rate rise in the coming financial year. The rate increase is in their draft budget. We say no! We need a rate freeze or rate reduction. City of Casey rates are already higher than the State average and our garbage charge is already scheduled to increase by 3%. Many people in Casey are already facing reduced incomes through job losses, reduced hours at work and stagnant wages. The City of Melbourne has already announced a rate freeze for their residents and businesses. We need the same!
We, the undersigned, call on the Administrators of the City of Casey to freeze or reduce average rates for residents and businesses in the 2020/2021 financial year.
