Anyone who lives or has lived on New Salem Street in Wakefield is aware of the constant speeding on this street. Since Shaw's has opened, there has been increased traffic and also increased trucking on New Salem Street. There are no lights, SLOW signs, SLOW CHILDREN SIGNS, and no notable police radar presence.
We as a community and more importantly those of us who have children living on this street, need to work with the Town of Wakefield to see that something is put in place to identify and prosecute speeders. Please, before someone is injured or killed.
We, the undersigned, call on the Town of Wakefield & Wakefield Police Department to install speed restriction devices, or increase police presence and police radar dramatically on New Salem Street.
