Stop Shoveling Charges

The Rainbow Housing Co-operative Board of directors have taken it upon themselves, since the winter of 2016, to charge individual members $30 for those who do not shovel their sidewalks within 24 hours of a snowfall. This would have legitimacy if it was approached in an appropriate manner. This is not the case, unfortunately. The director of property maintenance, James, arbitrarily assigns a charge of 30 dollars to whomever he deems has too much snow on their sidewalk. Not only could this promote favouritism but firstly he has zero physical evidence ( video surveillance or photographic evidence) to support his claim, and secondly he did and does not take any time to access the situation of the individual member charged. Not only are these charges unlawful but do nothing to encourage the community or provide help for those with disabilities or other physical limitations. Thirdly the fact that Maria, the Office Manager, hand delivers the messages is also arbitrary and can easily be an abuse of her authority.
