As an organisation officially registered to protect the rights of the girl child in Sierra Leone, we wish to bring to the urgent attention of the government of Sierra Leone gross violations of girls` rights which consequently hamper their growth and development and leads to loss of human potential in our country.
There are many cases of girls forced into public places like night clubs, pubs,guest houses and brothels has led to abuse by both young and older men in the country and many who come on holidays from outside Sierra Leone. Due to poverty the girls are easy prey to them.
In addition we have noticed that a number of brothels allow men to take in young school going girls. We strongly feel adults have full responsibility to protect children wherever and whenever they find them.

We are calling on the government of Sierra Leone to support our campaign to protect young girls and getting to strict restrictions of age limit for children under 16 from frequenting night clubs, pubs and brothels. In such public places we want our campaign: “HOW OLD ARE YOU”? to be the right thing everyone who suspects a child to be in such places to undertake.
Our specific requests from the government of Sierra Leone are as follows:
1. To introduce the use of ID in night clubs, hotels, guest houses and beaches where children unaccompanied by real parents is identified. Our experience has shown that it is easy to identify the girls being exploited as many in communities can easily identify them and be whistle blowers to police and child protection organisations like ours.
2. There be heavy fines and punishments for clubs, pub, brothel and hotel owners who do not ask age of children and parents should they come across them.
3. Support training of child protection officers to monitor the said institutions and conduct spot checks.
4. Parents who intentionally leave their children to frequent said institutions be punished as a deterrent measure.
5. Accomplices of rape crimes be prosecuted as much as the perpetrators.
6. Men who live in foreign countries involved in raping and dumping girls if reported be handed over to Interpol.
