Thanks to everyone who signed this petition. The petition achieved to an extent the desired result.
Nysc has released a statement cancelling the usual 3 weeks camp for NYSC PROSPECTIVE BATCH B STREAM 2 corp members in light of the Ebola scare. With all due respect and considerstion of our countries current health situation, we the prospective corps members think this is an unnecesary, rash and unfair decision to make mostly when our health care system has proven to be in control of the situation haven treated and discharged several persons who were infected with the virus.
However if NYSC feels thats extra measures should be taken then we humbly suggest that they make the 3 weeks camp an option so that those who would rather not attend because they feel sick or out of fear can stay athome without repercussions. Also corpers could be made to report to camp with their clean bill of health statements from reputable hospitals.
Moreover, the decision to cancel camp makes a mockery of NYSC's vision and statement which summarised is to provide a platform to impart in our youths values of nationalism, patriotism, loyalty, morality, self-reliance and unity through shared experience and suitable training.
