Among many other polluters, dental floss companies provide us with no other options but to purchase plastic boxes with each dental floss purchase.
These boxes are difficult or impossible to recycle, are toxic to recycle, and contribute to a serious international garbage and waste problem that included massive garbage patches in the ocean killing birds and wildlife, and killing our oceans.
There is no reason that floss companies cannot simply sell dental floss on a roll the way that string is sold. And it is the way that floss was originally sold.
Dental Floss Companies - please willingly change your marketing practice to non-plastic dental products and packaging. And reduce your packaging to the bare minimum in the process.
Governments - make excessive packaging illegal on all products, including dental floss.
We, the undersigned, call on World Governments, and Dental Floss companies to eliminate dental floss containers by 2013 and to greatly reduce packaging for dental floss.
