The Transportation Planning Organization is proposing to the Marion County Commission that SE 95th Street be 4 laned and extended through existing horse farms westward for a new I-75 exit.

This designated scenic oak canopied road traverses through and along the Cross Florida Greenway. This TPO plan must be modified to remove 95th St. expansion to the east of I-75.

We, the ecotourists and friendly users of the Cross Florida Greenway, wish to emphasize hereby our support for conservation of the Shady area's prime farmland, high water recharge capacity, scenic agricultural vistas, and historic significance, and to register our strong opposition to any and all efforts to further dilute Marion County's Scenic Road Ordinance through additional widening of roads identified in the original Scenic Road Ordinance.

We hereby register our concern regarding and opposition to a projected interchange at the intersection of I-75 and SE 95th St., and the plan to extend SE 95th St. east of I-75 to and across Shady Road, to and across 475, through SE 95th St. crossing the Greenway and ultimately to Silver Springs Shores. This east extension of SE 95th St. would destroy all those roadways in the Shady area identified for protection in the Scenic Road Ordinance as scenic/rustic roads, would impact adversely on the Greenway, and would effectively obliterate all horse and cattle farms in the Shady area. An extension of SW95th St. east of I-75 would serve to benefit only additional urban sprawl.

Accordingly, We urge the Marion Co. commissioners to deny any plans for an interchange at I-75 and SE 95th St. and any plans to extend Se 95th St. east of I-75.
