The City of Westminster has passed a resolution in the recent holiday period without the necessary consultation to introduce parking charges after 6.30pm and on Sundays
in parts of the borough.
Not only does this show a lack of respect by the council to its residents and businesses, but the timing can only be seen as a further negative factor in a very challenging economic time.
Does the City of Westminster want to jeopardise the success of the hotels, restaurants and clubs in the areas where it intends to impose this undemocratic and arbitrary measure.
This change could easily stop businesses trading and therefore create a situation where the business rates collected by the council could be reduced by this ill thought out and restrictive measure.
We, the undersigned, object to the imposition of night and Sunday parking charges in the areas E, F and G in the City of Westminster.
We believe that a proper and detailed consultation should take place prior to any changes in the charges made for parking in the borough especially with the residents and businesses on a borough wide basis.
