This petition regards the excessive profiteering engaged in by live music venues. Huge prices are charged for drinks, tickets and cloakrooms.

This is an act that excludes many from enjoying the broad spectrum of live music available across the UK.

The undersigned request that action is taken to curb the excessive profits aimed for by live music venues in the UK.

Many UK venues now not only charge enormous prices for tickets but continue the trend when selling drinks. It is not uncommon to pay over £3.50 for a can of beer or a soft drink in addition to the £3 charged for using a cloak room.

The spiralling costs exclude large numbers of people who would otherwise be able to enjoy live music of all types. We must also consider the environmental impact of venues selling drinks in cans which are then placed into plastic cups; why all the waste?

These issues would seem to be the result of sponsorship deals undertaken in the last few years (most notably a popular brand of lager). These deals have made prices surge and have removed individuality from venues thus creating a sanitised, overpriced and homogeneous live music environment.

Please return live music to something that we can all access again.
