Stop Local Government Data Incompetence
HOW MUCH LONGER ARE WE GOING TO TOLERATE INCOMPETENCE AND NEGLECT OF OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS?
We are now 25 years into the Internet Era and yet vast numbers of businesses and most local governments have not figured out how to keep our data safe.
Local governments are allowed to get away with almost anything when it comes to our data!
Some of their functions are covered under HIPAA and a few other regs, but most are as incompetently managed as the rest of local government functions.
Currently, most Americans have had private data taken as a part of a major data breaches. This is creating havoc with our identities, our credit, our employment, and our very lives as breaches and hacks hit our healthcare industry.
IT IS TIME TO STOP THE MADNESS

In order to put an end to the cycle of endless data breaches, we need our National Government to do what they have proven they can do! They can secure our data.
Get over your distrust of our government, the truth is that they already know or have access to everything about you - but most of that data is in the hands of people who are careless or have no regard for the impact it has on you. If it gets hacked it is not their problem, it is yours.
Join us in petitioning the Government of the United States to create a safe repository for state and local governments, so that they are not storing this data locally or on incompetently managed services.
PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION TO GET CONGRESS TO ACT ON THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE!
We the undersigned do petition the United States Government to enact law to prevent the unauthorized access of local and state governmental data about citizens and residents of the United States.
We request that the United States form an Agency to design, develop, implement, and manage a National Data Repository for the purposes of storing securely and in compliance with all Federal Regulations the data from local and state governments to protect the citizens and residents of the United States. Such a Repository will provide local & state governments with access to their data for the administration of their statutory responsibilities, and to use with their existing computer applications. However, the access to that data would be secured at levels and by methods not available to smaller local governments.
Additionally, the Agency and their Repository can be defended by Agencies and Departments of the United States Government, such as the U.S. Military's Cyber Command.
We ask that a Bill be written immediately to enact this requirement under the permissibility of Interstate Commerce provisions of the United States Constitution since this data is being transported across the internet or is accessible from the internet from which breaches have originated.
We also ask that the government consider a National Data Bill of Rights regarding the possession, use, and release of personally identifiable data of American Citizens and Residents, to establish a fair and standardized set of rules for when such data may or may not be released to the public across the entirety of the United States.
We request that the Congress of the United States take these steps immediately to prevent further disaster from afflicting our citizens and residents.
