We the people are the government body and wish to actively promote and encourage the betterment of our community. We also wish to protect our region from the negative impact(s) such as a recent proposal for a gravel pit with future considerations for a ready mix plant that is not part of the proposal but would be the next step should this first step be approved.

There have been several gravel pits in this region and all of them have been substantially smaller in size and length of operation than this one that is under consideration. In addition there has been numerous change in the region since these other gravel pits.

A large new school has been built in the region as well as a large grain processing operation, and a expansion of the railroad track to accommodate the Rockville Gas Terminal. Numerous homeowners have multiple wells to provide water for their families. The region is part of an orderly annexation which in the long term will have potential far more homes than exist at this time. This future growth should be considered as well as the concern of current residences.

The following people feel strongly that the gravel mining operation proposal submitted by KB Company,LLC. For Kenneth Eikmeier on 38.5 in Stearns County would be extremely harmful and would be detrimental to the environment and to the many families that live nearby which is of primary importance to the lives and livelihoods of most people in the region and future generations.

We do not want this to be our legacy.

We have grave concerns that if this plant opens, there will be major issues with water consumption, noise & air pollution, road hazards from trucks and loose gravel.

This plant will also cause degradation and loss of everyday liberties for all local residents which will cause a reduction in property values, as well as a reduction in the quality of life due to the issues noted. The further degradation of roads and more traffic issues are long term issues.

We realize and understand the need to get gravel to build build and maintain our roads but the location of this plant is completely wrong. There are many more rural locations to build plants of this nature that would not have such a negative impact. Choosing to have a plant like this within such a close proximity to many residents would not be a wise choice for our community. We believe that there are far better choices.

We want to make it clear that we are not opposed to new development. We simply & most respectfully, call upon the government to direct proposed gravel processing plant at a more suitable location. Where it can provide employment, without causing loss property values, loss of the air quality, noise pollution and keep our protect our well water from being at risk..

We sincerely hope that the government is listening to the wishes of its people.
