On Wednesday 30th of May 2012, Premier O’Farrell broke a promise to people of NSW.

Mr O’Farrell announced that national parks in NSW will be opened up to recreational hunters as part of a deal between the Shooters and Fishers Party and the government to ensure passage of its electricity privatisation bill.

This deal is a serious breach of faith.

Over the last two years, Premier O’Farrell has repeatedly assured the public that he would not allow hunting in national parks. He has broken that promise.

You might recall the smug and not quite brave Robert Borsak of the Shooters and Fishers Party posing next to an African elephant he killed from six paces while recently on a hunting safari in Zimbabwe. Premier O’Farrell is doing a deal with Mr Borsak to open up a huge number of our hard fought for national parks to recreational shooters. Its easy to see what will come next.

The Premier must hear a strong signal that we will not stand by while our natural heritage is traded away in backroom political deals.

He must hear that we will not put our precious native animals at risk in the very place they are meant to be protected or allow valuable habitat to be destroyed by reckless trampling.

Please sign this petition to tell Mr O’Farrell that he must revoke the approval given for recreational hunting in NSW national parks and reserves.

The Wildlife Preservation Society of Australia will be presenting this petition to Mr Barry O'Farrell.

We, the undersigned, call on the NSW Government to revoke the approval given for recreational hunting within NSW national parks and reserves.

The Stop hunting in NSW national parks petition to Mr Barry O'Farrell, NSW Premier was written by Linda Dennis and is in the category Animal Welfare at GoPetition.
