Every year local tax payers have to endure the destruction on New Year's when our local Municipality spent hundrend of thousands of Rands to buy fireworks for a few hours of "fun"
South Africa are in process of gaining "junk status" meaning poverty and unemployment is at a never before seen high.
The park is in middle of neighbourhood, 3 schools border it and a gas station is a mere 150m away (which is unlawful). Houses border the other sides of park but yet the municipality host this event which also traumatise animals in area. Fish and birds life are destroyed and the SPCA are to capicity to help animals in need over this event.
Rather spent that money to create jobs or help the homeless who uses this park to sleep and bath at.
Get your priorities straight please!
Please take this firework display to outskirts of town, as this park should not be to cause major destruction.
Use the taxpayer money for better causes and stop this unlawful firework show 31 dec/1 jan
