The Schnell farm property abuts a path along Bear Creek. Richmond Homes proposes building 91 single-family homes on this acreage. This would negatively impact the environmental health of the property and of the creek, as well as the experience of the thousands of people from surrounding neighborhoods and Denver who use the Bear Creek Trail. The Richmond Homes proposal would require a road cut through the ecosystem which includes some wetlands and would cross the creek. The development rests on rezoning approval from Lakewood City Council.
We, the undersigned, call on Lakewood City Council to deny rezoning of the Schnell property at 3113 Wadsworth for development. Further, we petition the Council to approve Lakewood Parks Department to acquire the property for city parkland.
