Llantarnam School was a state-funded and non-selective comprehensive school in the Llantarnam suburb of Cwmbran, Torfaen in Wales.

The school officially closed in July 2015 where both Llantarnam and Fairwater merged on the former Fairwater site to create Cwmbran High. Subsequently, the former Llantarnam site was later sold to make way for new housing developments.

The former school provided education for students between the ages of 11 and 19.

We, the general public, call on Torfaen County Borough Council to eliminate the sale of our educational establishments.

Following the closure of Llantarnam School (Comprehensive), Llantarnam Primary (For re-location), Kemys Fawr Infants School (For re-location), Former Pontnewynydd Primary School and Former Bellevue Nursery site, we feel that TCBC (Torfaen County Borough Council) have used The 21st Century Schools and Education Programme unsuitably as a way of gain of profit where the sites are to be sold off for residential use.

The site of the now Former Llantarnam School (Comprehensive) was firstly recorded as the more suited site to house a new 21st century secondary school, which was later reversed by TCBC under financial gain on the size of land.

It has since been made public knowledge that in order for the Comprehensive school to receive status of closure, an educational establishment was to remain on the land under a previously stated clause which lead to the build and re-location of Llantarnam Community Primary School (Oakfield).

For future stability, the Llantarnam Comprehensive School land was and is the most suited location for a 21st century school which will provide a more practical environment for future generations.
