Stop Cuts in Funding for Domestic Abuse Services in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton
- Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council
- United Kingdom
As you may be aware, Rochdale Council has announced that it has to make massive savings. This will mean that funding for the Rochdale Inter-Agency Domestic Violence Forum may be cut significantly, possibly resulting in big cutbacks from our service.
However, we believe that the service that we provide is essential for the women in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton and we do not want this to happen. Last year we supported in excess of 300 women, from a variety of different backgrounds.
A cut of 50% in our funding from RMBC could mean that up to 150 women in our Borough are denied access to the service; which in turn could result in putting significant numbers of women's and children's lives at risk.
We, the undersigned, call on Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council not to cut funding for the Rochdale Inter-Agency Domestic Violence Forum.
We believe that doing so will significantly endanger the lives of women and children living in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton.
