Every Spring and Fall "Chick Days" happen at Tractor Supply stores across the country. Day old babies (chicks and duckling mostly) are shipped in boxes (up to 3 days in a box) and arrive at stores to be stacked in plastic display cases. Little sentient being being productized and purchased by shoppers. It is all much darker than this, however.

Many of the babies who survive the trip are sick or injured. A majority of those that are struggling when they arrive to the store will endure slow deaths in the "backroom" where they are placed out of sight. It gets worse, in many occasions we have found the brooders to be overcrowded which has caused chicks to be trampled to death by their confused friends and/or they get stuck in the waterers and drown. What happens after they die? Their lifeless bodies are often left for hours with the rest of the alive chicks before they are thrown into a trash bag. Discarded as if they were damaged products, not the bodies of baby victims of this horrific business model.

We must put an end to this practice. Souls are not for sale. This babies deserve to be with their mothers and staying warm underneath their wings. Their mothers are being overbred to keep up with demand and that causes health issues for all. Also, the expectation is that most of these chicks and ducklings on sale have been sexed and are females. Ask yourself “What happened to the other 50%? Where are all of the boys that were born? What about the hens after they stop laying eggs? Their lives have been stolen from them in order to create babies for Tractor Supply? What happens to them when they are no long 'of use'?” The answers are horrific.

Please sign this petition to show your support and help us end Chick Days at Tractor Supply. Urge Tractor Supply to stop this disgusting and inhumane practice of over breeding, productizing, and causing the suffering of 10s of thousands of young souls each year.

We, the undersigned, demand Tractor Supply to no longer sell live animals. We ask that your remove the practice of hosting “Chick Days” at your stores and that you remove the ability to purchase chicks, ducklings, and other live animals from your website.
