The Postal Service is planning to require Central Point customers to pick up "Notice Left' mail at the Medford facility on Sage Road.
Customers currently within walking distance to the Central Point Post Office, will be required to find transportation or other means to pick up their mail. Elderly and disabled persons will be detrimentally affected, and the distance to travel for many others will be unreasonable.
At a public meeting held at the Central Point City Hall on May 11, 2012, the Postal Service representatives announced these plans. The Postal Service representatives failed to address many questions and concerns related to cost savings in performing these actions.
We, the undersigned, call on Local Representatives and Congressional Representatives to oppose the United States Postal Service plans at the Central Point Oregon Post Office to require residents to pick up mail at an alternate site, and to keep current policy to pick up mail at the Central Point Post Office.
