Do you want to be neighbors with a Cell Tower? So the Town of Sandown can make some money?
The perceived reduction in property values, as well as health & safety concerns to the residents living and playing near the tower need to be reviewed.
Please join us in our fight against The Town of Sandown's Warrant Article #8 in asking the residents for permission to lease Town Land to a private company, in a Residential Neighborhood to construct an intrusive tower that will forever change the landscape of Sandown, NH.
We, the undersigned residents of Sandown New Hampshire, and elsewhere attest that we are in opposition to The Town of Sandown's Warrant Article #8.
THE PROPOSED WARRANT:
Warrant Article 8. Shall the Town vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to enter into a long-term lease with a tower development company to construct a telecommunications tower on town property located off Snow Lane and designated as a portion of Tax Map 7, Lot 17-18, and further to authorize the Board of Selectmen to negotiate the terms and conditions of the lease and take any other action necessary to carry out this vote. (Recommended by the Board of Selectmen: 5- 0-0) (Recommended by the Budget Committee: 7 -0-0)
We also believe that approval of this Article is opposed to The Town of Sandown's own Zoning Ordinances (Article IX, c. pg 88) which forbids new construction of towers in residential neighborhoods.
Furthermore, the installation of the cellular antenna is inconsistent with the character of the neighborhoods surrounding the location. We would hope the Town of Sandown, NH would discourage antenna or tower proliferation and protect against visual blight and damage to our community aesthetics.
We believe tower development and telecommunications companies should be required to find more appropriate locations in nearby commercial and industrial zones away from residential rural neighborhoods and that all alternative scenarios must be exhausted to make a more appropriate selection on industrial or commercial land.
Perceived property values as well as concerns over children health topics, specific to this type of technology are well published and must be taken into consideration prior to site selection.
