The Campbell government has once again reneged on it's promise not to introduce new taxes, and it has done so at a time when middle and lower income families and small businesses are struggling with the trickle-down effect of last year's economic fall out.
Introducing an additional 7% tax on consumer goods and services at this time hurts those who can barely afford to stay afloat, let alone shoulder more expense.
This is not the time to introduce a new tax. If a new tax is truly justified, at least wait until employment rates have increased and small businesses are beginning to recover.
We, the undersigned, urge the BC Government to stop the implementation of the BC HST in July of 2010.
