This is a noise complaint petition for the ongoing loud noise coming from the rear apartment block of 24 Tennyson Street, Elwood, Victoria.
For over 2 months now, backpackers leasing this block of apartments have been talking loudly, shouting, playing loud music, singing along and throwing beer bottles on the pavement whilst sitting outside the apartment block. This noise goes on most days, at various times of the day and late at night. It also includes the frequent noise of fire alarms going off in the apartments.
This noise is causing stress and sleepless nights to the surrounding neighbours, affecting the personal wellbeing and as well as impacting on the professional working lives of the residents of this neighbourhood.
By signing this petition I request of the City of Port Phillip Council to permanently put an end to the leasing of apartments at the rear apartment block of 24 Tennyson Street in Elwood, for short, medium and long term rentals to backpackers (including those on a working holiday visa). The noise has to stop.
