This is a petition from the concerned citizens who will be negatively affected by the NMFS,NOAA, Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Fishery Management Plan Amendment 3 to ban shark gillnet gear in the south atlantic fishing area.
The banning of gillnet shark gear will have a negative economic effect on the fishing indusry. The data supplied by NMFS, NOAA is greatly inaccurate to support their proposal of the Amendment 3 shark gillnet ban.
We the undersigned, call on NMFS, AHMS, NOAA and the SAMFC to stop the banning of gillnet shark gear in the Southeast Atlantic fishing region.
The data to support this closure is just plain inaccurate. We want to keep our way of life and economic future alive.
