Are you concerned about cars speeding along Orestan Lane?
Many towns and villages have implemented a 20 MPH speed limit on residential and some A roads to reduce accidents, noise and air pollution.

A 20 MPH speed limit in Orestan Lane with Speed Activated Signs would combat drivers racing along at up to 40 mph. This would key in with the 20 mph limit in Calvert Road at one end and the proposed limit at the Effingham Schools end. This would make it safer for residents, school children, cyclists and horses that also use the lane.

Reducing the speed limit would make walking or cycling locally almost as quick and therefore more attractive, hence reducing carbon (CO2) emissions. It would also make roads more safe and pleasant for residents.

We, the undersigned, call on Surrey County Council, Effingham Parish Council and the Police to reduce the speed limit in Orestan Lane to 20 MPH to improve public safety and reduce air and noise pollution.
