Southsea seafront has just been ruined by a new parking layout which means the cars have to park away from facing the sea this has been implemented so a double cycle lane can be added which is NOT being used by cyclists they are in fact still using the promenade to cycle along.
The new layout is dangerous & we have also lost 150 parking spaces. The new layout means cars do NOT park in designated bays & for those who do not park with others in mind means more spaces are lost when people don't park considerately.
We the undersigned call upon the seafront manager to reverse the new parking layout along Southsea seafront Southsea Hampshire between Eastney swimming baths & South Parade pier.
We can prove that the cycle lanes are Not being used correctly by cyclists & that the majority of them are in fact still cycling along the promenade.
We also have photographic evidence of how badly people are parking. It is also dangerous to have people opening their car doors onto oncoming traffic.
The new layout is not giving enough road space for lorries & cars to pass safely.
