This Petition was created by concerned individuals to offer solutions and raise awareness for missing teens in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. There's been an increasing amount of missing teens in the D.C. area. The ages range from 12 -19 years old and are mostly from the inner city neighborhoods. There hasn’t been any media coverage or a promptly reliable Amber Alert system to convey accurate valuable information for the public for unaccounted teens in the area. To create solutions, we must identify a problem(s). As of 07/07/2017, data accessed through research from MPD Missing Teens website show:

27 Average age
60% Younger individuals (Below 20) 15 average age
Through this petition we hope to bring solution and awareness to solving these issues. In these situations, time, public awareness, and solid, up to date information is key in finding our missing loved ones and preventing violent crimes in our communities. It is imperative that we make this effort as a whole. Claiming these missing girls and boys are all runaways is completely dismissive and wrong.
. We insist upon MPD to reveal "accurate" numbers for those teens that are found?
. What is their physical & mental status? Are they being counted more than once? What is the recurrence of a runaway, kidnapped, etc. (and to provide a comparative analysis)? Are the numbers decreasing or increasing? What would constitute a State of Emergency?
. Identify the persons providing metrics for the MPD Missing teens website and have a better understanding how they come up with the data.
Let’s bring attention to these crisis and make sure our children return back home safely. We want the residents of DC to feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods and schools.
