On January 22 of 2007 Mr. Whitney, Smith-Cotton High School Principal, addressed the Board and presented the changes to the Smith-Cotton Program of Studies for the 2007-08 school year. In this proposal, he suggested that Honors English courses be removed from Smith-Cotton's course offerings.
I encourage those of you who have had the pleasure of taking an Honors English course at Smith-Cotton to stand up for the education you received, and help preserve it for future students.
We, the undersigned, are in support of the Honors English courses currently offered at Smith-Cotton High School. We implore the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education to deny the proposed changes to English curriculum in the Smith-Cotton Program of Studies for the 2007-08 school year.
