PROBLEM:

The Sahiwal Coal Power Project is a coal power plant project located in the province of Punjab in Pakistan by the name of Huaneng Shandong Ruyi (Pakistan) Energy (Limited). It has an installed capacity of 1320 MW. The power plant is located about (12 mi) from Sahiwal and (9.3 mi) from Okara cantonment, just north of the road that connects the two towns in Pakistan's Punjab Province.

Air pollution from coal-fired power plants is linked with asthma, cancer, heart and lung ailments, neurological problems, allergies, acid rain, global warming, and has other severe environmental and public health impacts.
Coal has long been a reliable source of energy, but it comes with tremendous costs because it is incredibly dirty. The same chemistry that enables coal to produce energy—breaking down of carbon molecules—also produces several profoundly harmful environmental impacts and pollutants that harm public health. Air pollution and global warming are two of the most serious issues that impact health.

SOLUTION:
• Educate the masses about its impact on air quality.
• Identify and develop renewable energy sources to augment the country’s power supply.
• More solar and wind farms should be built as soon as possible.
• More trees should be planted to improve air quality.
• More air filtration plants can be added to improve air quality.
