In the Constitution it is written that you serve your country and then return to gainful employment. It does not state that you serve your country AS gainful employment.
Many attempts have been made to amend the Constitution to include term limits for the House and Senate of our Federal Government. The writers of the Constitution felt that turnover of those governing ensure the proper operation of our democracy.
Our Supreme Court has overturned the attempts of at least 15 states to pursue Constitutional amendment. A justice on the Supreme Court has an appointment for life. Maybe another area for limits of some type?
We, the undersigned, call for an amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America to limit the term of service for Senators and Representatives to our federal government.
