This year the UK is hosting the 2009 Cadet and Junior World Championships in Belfast. Currently, due to not enough individuals qualifying for the individual Junior event, Great Britain are only entering three weapons in the Junior Team events. As the team currently stands, Women's Foil, Women's Sabre and Men's Sabre will not have teams representing them in the team events (because, for each of those weapons only two individuals qualified - for a team you need a minimum of 3 fencers, but preferably 3 plus a reserve).
The 2009 Cadet and Junior World Championships in Belfast is a landmark event for fencing in the UK and we should take full advantage of it by fielding full teams. The team event also provides a valuable motivational and developmental opportunity for Junior fencers.

We, the undersigned, call on the Board of British Fencing to select additional fencers for Women's Foil, Women's Sabre and Men's Sabre to allow those weapons to enter a team in the Junior Team Events for the 2009 Cadet and Junior World Championships in Belfast.
