A planning application has now been submitted to Norwich City Council to build the largest straw-fuelled biomass power station in the world within a mile of the centre of Norwich.

Norwich already has levels of nitrogen dioxide, ozone, particulates and sulphur dioxide exceeding UK Air Quality Standards and is a designated air quality management area (AQMA).

Studies of the health effects of biomass incinerators suggest that the emissions can be particularly harmful to children, the elderly and those with asthma.

The proposed 90 metre chimney stack will be a prominent feature on the skyline to rival the scale of Norwich Cathedral and traffic generation and noise pollution are also matters of concern to local residents.

We have until Wednesday 30 Sept to submit objections. If you would like help and sample letters please visit www.sayno2generationpark.com for more information.

We, the undersigned, call on Norwich City Council to withhold planning approval of the proposals for the Generation Park power station, at least until the long term health effects of its emissions on future generations are much better understood.
