Say No To The Top Floor!

Hounslow Council are planning to create 28 new homes by turning ours into a building site. They plan to submit an application, to themselves, to build a fourth floor on top of our 3 floor blocks. Backing ‘Say No To The Top Floor’ is fundamentally important, Apart from the intense disruption, these plans will in the long term significantly reduce light for residents, increase the already overcrowded parking and will further stress already pressured services like drainage and waste.

We reject the plans for washing lines, playgrounds and bike stores as poor compensation for years of noise pollution, interrupted services and damage to property. We reject your poorly thought out proposal that has not even considered if the very foundations that the buildings rest upon, could even bear the weight of these extra floors. We reject your plans in favour of our children’s safety, amidst potentially years of building work involving heavy machinery, and to push back at the Council’s shoddy communication of the plans in the first instance .

To re-iterate - The plans proposed will overload an already tired system with regard to drainage and waste. Mature trees will need to be removed in order to complete the works, and so far the plans have been put forward without fully testing the foundations and making sure the existing buildings can support a fourth floor. The modifications needed to upgrade the development will further strain budgets that would be better spent developing brownfield sites. This work will affect all the surrounding communities in terms of a surge in traffic, obstruction for emergency services and the physical and mental health of the residents. It’s important that we all say NO to the top floor.
