Recently, four Arab nations including Saudi Arabia, Eygpt, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain imposed sanctions against Qatar for allegedly supporting terrorism. The four issued a list of demands including the closure of Aljazeera network and all its affiliate channels to lift the sanctions.
The demand to close Aljazeera and its affiliate outlets is bogus, an affront to free speech and an alternative voice. It should be dismissed by all right thinking people with the contempt it deserves. Aljazeera has grown to be a global media outlet, which doesn't only serve the people in Qatar, but the World at large.
It is for this reason, that i request you kindly to append your signature on this petition. Aljazeera network has helped to bring the stories of lone voices to our living rooms.
We, the undersigned reject calls by the four Arab nations to close Aljazeera or its affiliate stations.
