PETA or people for the ethical treatment of animals has managed to break its side of the deal and not go to any of the retailers that support Australian wool till 2010. They have broken this deal and have gone back on their word.
PETA is trying to end the mulesing. Mulesing is the simple act of cutting two pieces of skin of the breach of a lamb, thus stopping an outbreak of flies in the folds of skin - a flystrike.
We should be getting the government to do more for the farmers that have this immense pressure to get out of farming sheep. For the simple reason that most of the trials that the agriculture department are doing are too expensive and time consuming.
PETA should instead of spending money on advertising to stop sheep farming altogether they should work with the government to make it more "humane" to farm sheep ie: put money into the research institutes.
