The Board of Education has authorized limited fundraising for the purposes of developing plans for the installation of stadium lighting on the football field at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Many in the community are concerned about the negative impact of nighttime sporting events.
Those concerns include noise in the quiet evening hours, light glare affecting neighbors’ homes as well as city lights views, parking, traffic, and the anticipated decrease of property values due to the required disclosure of these negatives at the time of sale.
The Peninsula Preservation Committee was formed to protect the interest of the community by preserving the peace and tranquillity of the peninsula, and we ask you to support our efforts by signing this petition.
We, the undersigned, living within the boundaries of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, oppose the installation of stadium lights at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School.
We ask the Board of Education to promptly rescind their authorization to raise funds and put an end to the stadium lights proposal. Please end this project now.
